Buyaga West football team from Kibaale district has been crowned the 2015 Bunyoro aMasaza Cup champions after easily brushing aside Buliisa football club at Sir-tito Winyi playground in Kiryatete Hoima town.
Buyaga West football team emerged on the tournament’s top scorer at five goals against four for Bulisa football team in penalties.
The Omukama of Bunyoro Kingdom, Dr Solomon Iguru Gafabusa was part of a huge crowd that attended the finals matches sponsored by China National off Shore Oil cooperation, CNOOC.
The Omukama later offered medals to different ministers, players and distinguished guests. While officiating the end of the tournaments, the Omukama commended CNOOC for the support in promoting Bunyoro’s youth sports talents.
Bunyoro Kingf Dr. Gafabusa Iguru also challenged the youths to embrace sports to discover and promote their sports talents.
The winning team was rewarded with a trophy and Cow while second run up was awarded a cow.
John Baguma, the Kingdom youth and sports minister however said a team of 25 players has been formed to participate in a friendly match between Bunyoro Kingdom and Buganda.
A total number of 60 teams from Hoima, Kibaale, Masindi, Kiryandongo and Buliisa districts have been participating in the tournament which kicked off early last month.
CNOOC Oil Company responsible for Kingfisher oil block in Kyangwali earmarked 100 million shillings for the just ended tournament.
